due to an unknown cause, the fascia (a type of ligament) located between the skin and the tendons of the hand begins to shorten. This initially causes wrinkling of the palm skin and typical dimpling. Future extensions of this fascia continue into the fingers over time and the fingers become compressed without the possibility of extension. In the event that the patient cannot touch the table with the entire palm and all fingers when placing the palm and fingers on the table, it is time for surgery. In most cases, it is possible to perform the operation under local anesthesia percutaneously only by injecting needles that cut the contracted fascia. An open operation is rarely necessary when the alternating skin incision, which avoids scarring that could again cause discomfort, exposes the fascia, which is completely removed along with its strands that go into the fingers. In the rere worst cases, when the finger is completely folded for a long time, the only possible option is amputatio and hand function is restored. A bent finger makes it impossible to wash, work with your hand, put your hand in your pocket.
