Dull pain and pressure on the lower side of the front part of the foot often occurs in people who have an apparently longer toe and a lowered transverse arch, and it is called metatarsalgia. If conservative treatment was not successful, the problem is effectively solved operatively. Problems often occur with hallux valgus deformity.
Extremely unpleasant, sharp pain in the front part of the foot, which resembles an electric shock, is caused by the so-called Morton's neurinoma. Namely, between the bones of the foot, two nerves merge into one and there is a thickening in that place. When the transverse arch of the foot descends, these bones press the thickening on the nerve. Effective treatment is achieved with a simple operation.
More often in men, painful pressures in the heel area are caused by the anatomical variant of the heel bone, the so-called Haglun's heel. Excess bone that causes problems can be removed arthroscopically or by mini-open surgery. The patient goes home the same or the next day at the latest.
